SPYRO

Spyro was bred by us here at Nosam Kennels, and she has impressed us from the very beginning. She displayed natural talent and exceptional biddability early on, with a strong desire to work and an innate eagerness to please. Spyro lives to retrieve and is a natural swimmer—she will confidently go after anything you send her for and deliver it cleanly to hand on both land and water.

She has an ideal range for the foot hunter, with the ability to be easily pushed out when needed. Spyro showed remarkable steadiness at a very young age, requiring no training to hold until shot.

She works seamlessly alongside other dogs in the field and backs naturally. From the start, she has retrieved to hand with little to no pressure—skills that typically require time and refinement, yet came instinctively to her and will carry her quickly to the next level.

Earning her NAVHDA Natural Ability Prize I at just seven months of age came easily, which is no surprise given her pedigree is stacked with NAVHDA Versatile Champions, Master Hunters, and Dual Champions.

Spyro is a smaller liver-roan female, weighing approximately 45 pounds and standing 22.5 inches tall, well within the breed standard. She has a beautiful, athletic build with excellent bone and muscle structure, complemented by a striking coat. Her temperament truly sets her apart. She is easygoing and relaxed when asked to be, yet instantly ready to work. Sweet, happy, and affectionate, she has the softest temperament of all our shorthairs—but don’t let that fool you. In the field, she is driven, focused, and determined.

It is rare to find a dog that combines natural drive, a strong work ethic, and a reliable off-switch, and Spyro possesses all three. Her ease of trainability is already evident in her offspring, as we are seeing these same desirable traits in her first litter.

From structure and ability to pedigree and health, Spyro is the complete package—and we are excited to watch both her career and her puppies continue to develop. She is the mother to Rage & Draco, along with the Grandmother to Fallon. Needless to say she has already left a big mark in our program.
